Lent Studies 2019 - A Pilgrimage of Grace

22/11/2018

We are NOT talking about the Porirua Anglican family, 'Grace', but high quality Lenten Studies on key Christian themes that have been offered in the Wellington Anglican Diocese in recent years. This year's series, "A Pilgrimage of Grace" promises to be up there in quality and content.

What is (Christian) grace? Elegance? Good will? Honour? Study scriptures about grace together. Share your experiences of grace received and given and how they have made a difference. Do you agree that if we do not offer grace, then we become a prisoner?

Buy your copy of this Lenten study series from the diocesan office or get one from Porirua Anglican.

Two Wednesday Study groups are planned in St Anne's:
  • 10:00am - begins with morning tea
  • 7:30pm - supper to follow
Both commence on Wednesday 6th March 2019 and Studies run for six weekly sessions.

Part of the crowd that walked from Waitangirua Mall to Cannons Creek Park this morning (10th November) concerned to promote suicide awareness and prevention. Erin and Terry from Anglican Anglicans were amongst the walkers, many of whom wore yellow clothing,  who listened to several people speak in the Park of their experiences of living with suicide. All highlighted the lack of support they and those who have completed suicide have often felt at every level.

It was suggested today that there will be a walk soon from Titahi Bay into Porirua CBD. Watch this space...

Porirua Anglican Vestry Rejoices with the Urban Vision Waitangirua Anglican Congregation

8/11/2018

At its Vestry meeting on Sunday (4 Nov) the Porirua Anglican Vestry passed a motion unanimously endorsing and rejoicing in initiatives its congregation, which meets at Russell School, have taken to advocate for improved housing in Porirua East.  It was, it seemed, no coincidence that the Prime Minister's announcement that $1.5b will be spent on building and upgrading housing in Porirua was made where this congregation meets. Under the leadership of former Priest in Charge Cath Growcott, the congregation's advocacy, along with that of others, has been heard and positively received. We continue to pray for the delivery of the PM's promises in a timely way.
