Nearly 50 people of many ethnicities gathered at St Anne's, Ranui for the 10am communion service on Sunday 16th September. The theme for the day had us thinking about how we use our tongues! One of the Bible readings included James 3 :9-10 "My dear friends, with our tongues we speak both praises and curses. We praise our Lord and Father, and we curse people who were created to be like God, and this isn’t right." Among other things after reflecting on this and other passages and comments we prayed together for our speech to be edifying and that it give glory to God. During the service the congregation were introduced to the Reverend Terry Alve who is acting priest in charge for the next period. Terry with his wife Margaret and two of their children, a daughter in law, plus six of their grandchildren were warmly embraced by the congregation. A highlight was the cutting of a very brightly coloured cake which was devoured with enthusiasm. Terry and Margaret, indeed all their grandchildren, live in Tawa or Linden.
